Arundo Mauritanica

An Italian Grass. Tincture of the root sprouts.

Anxiety diminished in open air.

Anxiety from accumulation of mucus in bronchi.

Absence of ideas. ^ Sensorium. Vertigo on getting out of bed. ^ Inner Head- Deep-seated pain towards frontal lobes and sides.

Paiiitui undulation in frontal region.

Burning pain in interior head ; pain and heat in forehead.

Pain in r. temple to top of head, makes sleepy.

Sudden formicating pains through temples.

Formication and stupefying pain on top of head, going down to neck.

JBlepharitis.

Light intolerable, at noon and evenings.

Luminous objects flutter.

Undulating, luminous openings appear wherever he looks.

Dim vision, things veiled.

Cannot look upwards.

When looking steadily, pricking in orbit.

Pupils dilated.

Pricking pain in vault of orbit ; gets heavy and sleepy.

Pricking, itching and burning in eyes, the 1. worse.

Itching of conjunctiva; burning pain in sclerotica.

Excrescence on sclerotica.

Lids jacticate, are heavy, red and burning, itch, swollen.

Lachrymation.

Intolerable itching in brow and 1. eye.

Burning, pricking, (1.), formication.

I Catarrhal, rheumatic, or scrofulous ophthalmia. ^ Hearing and Ears. Noise in ears, sound as of little bells.

Pain at base of outer ear (1.).

Formication in 1. external ear.

While children complain they keep fingers in ears.

Pain burning, and intolerable itching in the canals.

Burning, itching in auditory canals coincide with pain in sub- lingual glands.

I I The inflammation of ears commences with shooting pains, begins in the concha, extends to external meatus ; finally, with itching a discharge of blood.

Hemorrhage of bright red blood (1.).

Sweetish taste in mouth.

Water has a bad taste.

Bitter mouth on waking mornings.

Salivation. ^^ Palate and Throat. Burning, itching and irritation of palate. Eruption of red points on palate in children. Burning and redness in oesophagus. Globus hystericus.

Stoppage of air (from stomach ?) in oesophagus. Obstruction prevents swallowing. Burning and pain on swallowing.

^* Appetite, Thirst, Desires, Aversions. Longing for acids,

acid food. Want of appetite. Constant thirst I I in children ; 1 after w^aking in the morning.

^® Hiccough, Belching, Nausea and Vomiting. Desire to

belch, but cannot.

Empty belching.

Hiccough.

Attacks of very painful nausea.

Nausea getting up in the morning.

Vomiting of frothy, viscid matter after cough. See 27. ^^ Scrobiculum and Stomach. Coldness in stomach.

Acute pain in pit of stomach ; on pressure pain.

Pain all around epigastrium, pricking through it.

Gastralgia. ^^ Hypochondria. Pain in liver.

ir'ricking in spleen. ^^ Abdomen, Loins and Groins. Acute pain at umbilicus.

Pain in colon, r. and 1.; pricking in it.

Wandering pains through bowels.

Movements in bowels as if caused by a living thing; as of a worm crawling on r. side.

Noise in bowels ; borborygmus. ^

Abundant flatulence.

Bowels painful when pressed by hand.

Pain throughout hypogastrium ; burning and pricking after coughing.

Pain at pubic region.

Stitches in groin.

Pricking and burning heat.

Pain, burning and formication in loins.

Stitches in loins ; stitches when sneezing.

Heat, with formication beginning at the loins, rising to shoul- ders, and extending to hands..

Pain starting from 1. side of jaw, running along 1. eyebrow, thence extending to shoulders and loins, finally settling on pubis, burning there like fire.

Pains in the loins, with a cough.

Pain in loins before first menstruation.

Painful constriction of pubis and loins, prevents walking.

Pain beginning in kidneys, passing on to lumbar region and ex- tending to the pubis.

Burning pain from kidneys passing through left ileum to the pubis. " Pregnancy and Parturition. Excessive secretion of milk, causes pain in 1. breast.

Burning and pain in nipples.

Prickings under the 1. breast.

Morning hoarseness.

Respiration. Whistling, etc., in the bronchi when breathing*

Short, difficult breathing ; also during coition, or on walking going up stairs.

Suflfocative paroxysm.

Attacks of dyspnoea, with profuse sweat. " Cough. 1 Catarrhal cough.

Sputa in the beginning bluish, then white, and so alternately.

After expectorating, bruised feeling in pit of throat.

Rattling during the cough.

After cough, burning in hypogastrium.

After coughing, larynx obstructed, prevents wind and sputa from coming up, causing afterwards vomiting of frothy, vis- cid matter.

Cough at noon, midday and evenings.

Dry cough evenings, with pains in pit of stomach, with viscid vomiting ; followed by burning at pit of throat.

Expectoration difficult, early mornings.

Sputa whitish ; round, ash-colored clots. ^^ Inner Chest and Lungs. Accumulation of mucus in the bron- chi causes anxiety.

Pain in chest ; pricking in chest ; under clavicles.

Formication in chest.

Pain in r. side, towards midnight. ^^ Heart, Pulse and Circulation. 1 1 Pulse rises to 90, later lessening.

Abnormal movements of heart ; oppression of it.

Pricking in the arteries. ^^ Neck and Back. Startings in the neck ; formicating pain on 1. side of it.

Feeling.as of a worm crawling on the neck.

Acute pain under 1. scapula.

Lumbago. ^^ Upper Limbs. Pain in the scapulae.

Pricking in axilla.

Weakness of arms, acute pain ; formication.

Coldness in shoulders, in both arms ; heat and heaviness in 1. arm.

Burning pain passing from arm to wrist, from there to fore- finger, and then to thumb.

Burning pain in elbows.

Pain beginning in elbow, ending in ring finger.

Pain in r. wrist, and burning heat in one or the other.

Burning, jerking pain in r. wrist.

Formicative pain, with heaviness in 1. wrist.

Stiffness pf hands.

Oedema of hands, especially in children.

Burning pain in both hands, as if plunged in boiling water.

Formication in hands.

Hysteria. ^^ Sleep, Sleepiness in daytime.

Sleeps by day ; sleepless at night.

Sleepiness, with burning in eyes.

Sleeplessness and weeping at night, in children ; excessive heat.

On waking, bitter mouth ; after waking, thirst.

Getting up in the morning, vertigo.

On waking, nausea, hoarseness. ^^ Time. Towards noon : attack of pain.

At noon : shunning of light; cough.

Most eff"ects from noon till evening.

Afternoon : pain in knees.

Evening : shunning light ; cough ; dry cough, etc.

Morning : easy expectoration.

Κνησμός: στο κεφάλι· στα μάτια· στα βλέφαρα· στο φρύδι· στον ακουστικό πόρο· στη μύτη· στο πρόσωπο· του ουρανίσκου· στην ουρήθρα· εξανθήματα. ■*^ Ιστοί. Βλεννογόνοι μεμβράνες των ματιών, των αυτιών, της μύτης, του ουρανίσκου κ.λπ.

Οξεία και χρόνια κατάρρα.

Πόνοι και τσιμπήματα στους αδένες. ^® Δέρμα. Αίσθηση σαν έντομο να σέρνεται πάνω στη μέση, τους ώμους, και μερικές φορές σε ολόκληρη την επιφάνεια του σώματος.

Ερυθρότητα του δέρματος, σαν σημάδι γεννήσεως.

Το δέρμα στα παιδιά γίνεται μπλε στο αποκορύφωμα του πυρετού.

Εξανθήματα που μοιάζουν με ψώρα στο στήθος, στα παιδιά, και επίσης πίσω από τα αυτιά. Κνησμώδες φλυκταινώδες εξάνθημα στα παιδιά.

Ερυσίπελας σε διάφορα μέρη του σώματος.

Κνησμώδες милиιακό εξάνθημα στη μέση.

Φλύκταινες σαν της ψώρας, με ανυπόστατο κνησμό, που όταν ανοίγονται με τριβή εκκρίνουν υδαρές υγρό.

Το Ananth. έχει δοκιμαστεί (proving) από τον Houat, αλλά δεν έχουμε αξιόπιστες θεραπείες. Το Sacch. off. είναι γνωστό από provings και θεραπείες, αλλά δεν έχει ομοιότητα με κανένα βάμμα από ρίζες.

Οι διαζευκτικά όμοια είναι κυρίως τα Sulphur, Calc. ost., και το Lycop., ένα από τα κύρια μέλη της οικογένειας στο οπλοστάσιό μας.
