Berberis. Berberidaceae.

Δοκιμάστηκε (proving) με μεγάλη επιμέλεια από τον Dr. Hesse και δημοσιεύτηκε στο περιοδικό της Materia Medica το 1834· μεταφράστηκε και προστέθηκε σε αποσπάσματα στις εκδόσεις Allentown του Εγχειριδίου του Jahr, γι' αυτό χρησιμοποιήθηκε συχνά στις Ηνωμένες Πολιτείες. Το 1843 ο Noak δημοσίευσε ένα πολύ καλύτερο απόσπασμα, δεν ακολουθήθηκαν θεραπείες από αυτό. Το 1854 ο Dr.

J. H. Weber στην Allg. Hom.

Zeitung ανέλυσε τα συμπτώματά του. Το 1879 ο H. V. Miller δημοσίευσε περιπτώσεις στο Quarterly του Lilienthal· αυτές μεταφράστηκαν στα γερμανικά και τυπώθηκαν στην Allg.

B Βαριά και βαρύτητα στο κεφάλι.

Τεντωμένος πόνος, επίσης με πίεση στους κροτάφους και το μέτωπο.

Αίσθηση μέθης, ζάλη, κενό, σύγχυση, βαρύτητα στο κεφάλι, ιδίως μπροστά, με πίεση στο στέμμα, συνοδευόμενη από εναλλασσόμενο ρίγος και ζέστη από το πρωί έως το απόγευμα, ακολουθούμενη από ρινική ροή και φτέρνισμα, σαν να επρόκειτο να εκδηλωθεί καταρροή, η οποία όμως δεν εμφανίζεται.

^ Εσωτερικό κεφάλι. Βαριά στο κεφάλι σαν από ρινίτιδα.

Βαρύτητα στο κεφάλι, όταν σκύβει, σαν ο εγκέφαλος να έπεφτε μπροστά, με αίσθηση φυσαλίδων, σαν όλα να πρόκειται να πέσουν από το μέτωπο. Πίεση από μέσα προς τα έξω, ιδίως στο μέτωπο, αλλά και στους κροτάφους και το ινίο. Τεντωμένος πόνος, επίσης με πίεση στους κροτάφους και το μέτωπο, ή με βαρύτητα όλου του κεφαλιού. Πιεστική, τεταμένη, εκρηκτική κεφαλαλγία, ιδίως στο στέμμα, κυρίως το πρωί, αυξανόμενη με το σκύψιμο, ανακουφισμένη στον καθαρό αέρα· με κόπωση και εξάντληση. Σχίζωση στο μέτωπο και τις κόγχες.

Διαπεραστικές, στριφογυριστές, σουβλιές πάνω από το μέτωπο και τους κροτάφους. Σχίζωση σε διάφορα μέρη, ιδίως στους κροτάφους και το ινίο, ξεκινώντας από τον αυχένα ή εκτεινόμενη σε αυτόν· από την άκρη της κόγχης προς τη μύτη ή προς τα πάνω στο μέτωπο, ή μέσα στις κόγχες. I Σχιζομένος πόνος σε όλο το κεφάλι, τώρα εδώ, τώρα εκεί, στο μέτωπο και τους κροτάφους. Σουβλιές στο μέτωπο.

Αιφνίδιες σουβλιές από τα μάτια στο μέτωπο. Διαπεραστικοί και διαπεραστικοί πόνοι στο κεφάλι, που συχνά αλλάζουν θέση. ■ Μια ιδιαίτερη αίσθηση ψύχους στον δεξιό κροτάφο. Ζέστη στο κεφάλι μετά το δείπνο, ή το απόγευμα, και από την προσπάθεια. I Μια πρησμένη αίσθηση σε όλο το κεφάλι.

I Αίσθηση στο κεφάλι σαν να γινόταν μεγαλύτερο. Πληρότητα στο κεφάλι με αίσθηση σαν το κεφάλι να ήταν διογκωμένο. Κεφαλαλγία επιδεινούμενη από κίνηση ή σκύψιμο, ανακουφισμένη στον καθαρό αέρα. Κεφαλαλγία: συνοδευόμενη από ηπατικά ή ρευματικά αρθριτικά συμπτώματα· ή με παθήσεις των ουροποιητικών οργάνων· ή με εμμηνορρυσιακές διαταραχές. * Εξωτερικό κεφάλι.

Στο δέρμα του κεφαλιού και του προσώπου τάση σαν να ήταν πρησμένο, ή καλυμμένο με σκουφί, ή μουδιασμένο, με δυσκολία να το κινήσει. Τάση του τριχωτού και του δέρματος, σαν πρησμένο. Κνησμός, με κάψιμο και σουβλιές στο τριχωτό και το πρόσωπο, περισσότερο στο ινίο, ιδίως το βράδυ, και αλλάζοντας θέση μετά το ξύσιμο. Ζεστοί κροτάφοι και κρύα μάγουλα.

Τσουχρισμός, τρυφερότητα στο τριχωτό και το πρόσωπο. Κάψιμο, τσούξιμο κατά μήκος της άκρης των μαλλιών στο κεφάλι. Μεμονωμένα σπυράκια στο τριχωτό και το πρόσωπο, περισσότερο στο ινίο, το μέτωπο και τους κροτάφους. ^ Όραση και μάτια. Αποφεύγει το φως.

Ψευδαισθήσεις· στο λυκόφως τα αντικείμενα φαίνονται διπλάσια σε μέγεθος από το φυσικό.

Θολή όραση, όλα τα αντικείμενα σκοτεινά, σαν μέσα από πέπλο, συγκλίνουντα, με κνησμό γύρω από τα μάτια και στο πρόσωπο, προηγούμενα από αρχόμενη καταρροή, ακολουθούμενα από κνησμό στα πόδια.

Πίεση στα μάτια.

Σχίζωση στο αριστερό μάτι· επίσης στα βλέφαρα.

Σχίζωση στο μέτωπο και τις κόγχες.

Σχίζωση κοντά στις κόγχες με δακρύρροια· μάτια και μύτη υγρά.

Ευαισθησία των ματιών.

Αιφνίδιο τσούξιμο· ξεκινώντας από το μέτωπο και τους κροτάφους, ή εκτεινόμενο σε αυτούς.

I Βίαιοι διαπεραστικοί πόνοι μέσα από τα μάτια στον εγκέφαλο, ή από τους κροτάφους στα μάτια· μερικές φορές στα χέρια, ή από το γόνατο στο μάτι. 6 Μετά από εγχείρηση για στραβισμό.

Τσουχρισμός, κάψιμο ή κνησμός στα μάτια.

Ξηρότητα των ματιών, με κάψιμο και ερυθρότητα του επιπεφυκότα.

Ερεθισμός στα μάτια, σαν από άμμο, ζέστη και κάψιμο, με θολή εμφάνιση.

Επιπεφυκίτιδα, με φλεγμονή του δακρυϊκού βλεφαριδικού σαρκώδους κόλπου.

Κρύα αίσθηση στο μάτι, σαν από δροσερό αέρα, με δακρύρροια όταν κλείνει τα μάτια.

Ψύχος των ματιών.

Συμπτώματα ματιών < σε εξωτερικό χώρο, < με κίνηση των ματιών.

Τρέμουλο των βλεφάρων όταν διαβάζει στο φως κεριού.

Αίσθηση άμμου ανάμεσα στα βλέφαρα· ξηρότητα του έσω γωνιακού κόλπου και αίσθηση ξένου σώματος εκεί.

Κολλώδη αίσθηση και λευκή μεμβράνη στα ξηρά βλέφαρα, το πρωί.

Κνησμός, κάψιμο και τσούξιμο στα βλέφαρα ή στους γωνιακούς κόλπους, συχνά μόνο σε μικρές κηλίδες.

Ερυθρή κηλίδα στο αριστερό βλέφαρο, αισθάνεται σαν τσίμπημα κουνουπιού, αλλά το πρήξιμο σχεδόν κλείνει το μάτι· την επόμενη μέρα άλλες κηλίδες στο πρόσωπο, πίσω από το αυτί και στον αυχένα· την τρίτη μέρα στο πηγούνι και τη μύτη, με κνησμό και κάψιμο· το βράδυ καλυμμένες με μικρές φυσαλίδες, που εκκρίνουν υδατόρευστο υγρό.

Κνησμός στους γωνιακούς κόλπους, τα φρύδια και τα βλέφαρα.

Φλεγμονή των δακρυϊκών σαρκωδών κόλπων.

Ξηρότητα στον έσω γωνιακό κόλπο.

Σχίζωση, ιδίως στα βλέφαρα. ^ Ακοή και αυτιά. Χτυπούμενος και φτερούγισμα θόρυβος στο αυτί.

Αίσθηση βουλωμένου αυτιού, με πίεση.

Σφύζουσες και βουητό στα αυτιά.

Ελκτικός, πιεστικός πόνος με σουβλιές στα αυτιά.

Σουβλιές στο αυτί.

Σχίζωση και σουβλίζοντας στα αυτιά, μέσα από το τυμπανικό υμένα, σαν να ήταν καρφωμένο καρφί, ή σαν από κεντρί εντόμου.

I Διαπεραστικός πόνος πίσω από το δεξί αυτί σε κρίσεις, < κάθε βράδυ.

Εξωτερικό διαπεραστικό στο αυτί, σαν με αιχμηρό εργαλείο.

Σχίζωση, εναλλάξ στο αυτί και σε άλλα μέρη του σώματος.

Εναλλασσόμενη ζέστη και ψύχος στο εξωτερικό αυτί.

Σπυράκια μπροστά από το αυτί.

Σπυράκια· οζίδια, μεγέθους σπόρου κάνναβης, στο πτερύγιο, επώδυνα στην αφή.

Όγκος πίσω από το αυτί, μεγέθους φουντουκιού. ^ Όσφρηση και μύτη. Μυρμήγκιασμα, τσούξιμο ή κνησμός στη μύτη.

Γαργαλιστικός ερεθισμός για φτέρνισμα.

Από το αριστερό ρουθούνι μερικές σταγόνες καθαρού αίματος.

I Βουλωμένη μύτη. ^ Ρινορραγία.

Ξηρή μύτη, ακολουθούμενη από χρόνια καταρροή με δυσώδη έκκριμα.

i Η μύτη και τα μάτια υγρά, με φτέρνισμα, σαν να άρχιζε καταρροή.

Ένδειξη καταρροής, ακολουθούμενη από βίαια οφθαλμικά συμπτώματα.

Κατά τη ρέουσα καταρροή, πίεση στο στήθος, ιδίως τη νύχτα.

Καταρροή της μύτης, που διαρκεί μήνες, με καταρροή των κόλπων Highmore και των μετωπιαίων κοιλοτήτων, με μέτρια έκκριση κιτρινωδής ή πρασινωδής βλέννας, πιο άφθονη το πρωί, και με καυστική οσμή ή γεύση.

Χρόνια ρινίτιδα στο αριστερή πλευρά, εκτεινόμενη στην κοιλότητα Highmore.

I Πυώδες κιτρινό ή πρασινωπό έκκριμα. 6 Ρινίτιδα.

I I Επίμονη καταρροή του αριστερού ρουθουνιού, με έκκριμα, πρώτα κιτρινού νερού, αργότερα πυώδους λευκής, κίτρινης ή πράσινης βλέννας· καπνώδης οσμή και γεύση, ιδίως το πρωί.

Τσούξιμο στην άκρη της μύτης. ^ Πρόσωπο. Σχίζωση και σουβλιές στα ζυγωματικά και τα οστά της γνάθου.

Σφιγκτικός, σχιζομένος και τσούχτουσας πόνος στα οστά του προσώπου, και στην άνω και κάτω γνάθο, σαν από χτύπημα, εκτεινόμενος στους κροτάφους.

Σκοτεινά ερυθρή, επώδυνη κηλίδα στο δεξί μάγουλο.

Πρασινωπό πρόσωπο, με μπλε κύκλους και ροδινα μάτια.

Για πολύ καιρό έχει κουρασμένη, εξαντλημένη έκφραση προσώπου.

llΧλωμή, χωματέρια όψη, με βαθουλωτά μάγουλα και βαθουλωμένα, με μπλε κύκλους μάτια. 6 Πυγκοίλωμα πρωκτού.

Αίσθηση ρίγους στο μάγουλο.

Αίσθηση ψύχους, ακολουθούμενη από βαθιά ερυθρές κηλίδες στο μάγουλο, συνοδευόμενες από ζέστη που εκτείνεται σε όλο το πρόσωπο το απόγευμα.

Ζέστη και ερυθρότητα στο πρόσωπο.

Ζέστη και κάψιμο του προσώπου με ερυθρά μάγουλα.

Σκοτεινά ερυθρή κηλίδα στο μάγουλο, μετά από αίσθηση ρίγους, κατόπιν απλούμενη σε όλο το πρόσωπο.

Κάψιμο και κνησμός στα μάγουλα.

Κρύα ριγώδη ιδρώτα στο πρόσωπο.

Αίσθηση σαν κρύες σταγόνες να τινάζονται στο πρόσωπο όταν βγαίνει στον καθαρό αέρα. Τάση του τριχωτού και του δέρματος του προσώπου, σαν πρησμένο. Καθαρά ερυθρά, φλεγμονώδη σπυράκια στα μάγουλα και τα χείλη, ελκωμένα στα κέντρα τους. ^ Κάτω μέρος προσώπου. Θολά ερυθρή, γαλαζωπή κηλίδα στην εσωτερική πλευρά του κάτω χείλους. Χείλη γαλαζωπά στο εσωτερικό.

Μυρμήγκιασμα στο άνω χείλος, γύρω από το στόμα και το πηγούνι. Κάψιμο, κνησμός, μυρμήγκιασμα και τρέμουλο στα χείλη. Χείλη ξηρά, κολλώδη, που ξεφλουδίζουν, με λεπτές ψύχες. Ξηρότητα των χειλέων, με απολέπιση και σχηματισμό λεπτής καφέ ψύχας στις άκρες.

Σφαιρικά φυσαλίδες στο κάτω χείλος. ^^ Δόντια και ούλα. Ξύστικος, τρυφερός πόνος στα δόντια. Τα δόντια σαν να είναι πολύ μακριά, ευαίσθητα στην αφή και στον αέρα. Σχίζωση στο αριστερό άνω γομφίο.

Διαπεραστικός πόνος στα κοίλα δόντια της κάτω γνάθου. Δόντια σαν να είναι πολύ μεγάλα. Σύγκριση Niccol. Σουβλιές στα δόντια· αισθάνονται πολύ μακριά ή θαμπά.

Πόνος σαν τα ούλα να σχίζονταν, ή το δόντι να βγαίνει. Θολά ερυθρή άκρη των ούλων· μικρά λευκά οζίδια στα ούλα. 1 I Τα ούλα αιμορραγούν εύκολα. Έλκος σε άνω γομφίο ή τομή. Πληγωμένα ούλα κατά την οδοντοφυΐα.

Συμπυώνοντα έλκη πάνω από τους τομείς και τους γομφίους. " Γεύση, ομιλία, γλώσσα. Γεύση: αίματος· πικρή· ξινή. Η γλώσσα τσούζεται όταν την αγγίζει.

I Σκωμώδης επιπλεγμένη γλώσσα, d Αιμορροΐδες. Επώδυνες λευκές φυσαλίδες στην άκρη της γλώσσας. ^^ Εσωτερικό στόμα. Δυσώδη μεταλλική οσμή από το στόμα.

Στόμα και φάρυγγα ξηρά και κολλώδη, ιδίως το πρωί, ανακουφίζονται μετά το φαγητό. Το στόμα και ο φάρυγγας ξηροί και κολλώδεις, ιδίως το πρωί, με λευκή γλώσσα και αφρώδη σίελο· >- μετά το φαγητό. I Το σίελο κολλώδες, σαν σαπουνόνερο. I Κολλώδης, αφρώδης σίελος, σαν βαμβάκι.

Άσχημες γαλαζωπό-ερυθρές κηλίδες στο στόμα. Το κάτω χείλος στην εσωτερική του επιφάνεια γαλαζωπό-ερυθρό. Στην εσωτερική επιφάνεια των μαγούλων και των χειλέων, ερυθρά, επώδυνα, βαθιά συμπυούμενα σπυράκια και υδατώδη φλύκταινες μεγέθους μπιζελιού. I Άφθες. ^^ Ουρανίσκος και λαιμός.

Αυξημένη ερυθρότητα του ουρανίσκου και των αμυγδαλών· οι αμυγδαλές πονούν όταν μιλά ή καταπίνει· σουβλιές σαν από άχνα στον λαιμό. Αίσθηση βύσματος στην πλευρά του λαιμού, με ξηρότητα, τραχύτητα και ξύσιμο· σοβαρός πόνος από την κενή κατάποση.

Φλεγμονή των αμυγδαλών και του φάρυγγα, με πρήξιμο και πύρινη ερυθρότητα, και αίσθηση σαν σβώλος να ήταν καρφωμένος στην πλευρά του λαιμού· απόχρεμψη ποσότητας παχύρρευστης, κίτρινης, ζελατινώδους βλέννας· λευκή, κολλώδης γλώσσα· κολλώδης σίελος που μοιάζει με σαπουνόνερο.

Η κενή κατάποση πονά στον λαιμό.

Αίσθηση ακαμψίας στον λαιμό, σε μερικές περιπτώσεις μόνο στη μία πλευρά, σαν να υπήρχαν κιρσοί. Σύγκριση Pulsat.

Ξύσιμο στον λαιμό, που αναγκάζει σε βήξιμο, ιδίως το πρωί.

Ξύσιμο και κάψιμο σαν από άμμο στον λαιμό.

Πόνος στην αριστερή αμυγδαλή, σαν φλούδα να ήταν καρφωμένη εκεί, ιδίως όταν μιλά και καταπίνει· το εσωτερικό του λαιμού ερυθρό, το εξωτερικό πολύ ευαίσθητο στην αφή και την κίνηση.

Αίσθηση σβώλου στον λαιμό. ^^ Όρεξη, δίψα, επιθυμίες, αποστροφές, i Μεγάλη δίψα, εναλλάξ με αποστροφή σε όλα τα είδη ποτών, d Ίκτερος.

Δίψα, με ξηρότητα του στόματος.

Μεγάλη δίψα, εναλλάξ με αποστροφή στο ποτό.

Όρεξη είτε αυξημένη είτε μειωμένη.

I Έλλειψη όρεξης. 6 Αιμορροΐδες.

Αυξημένη όρεξη.

I Λύκαιμη πείνα, εναλλάξ με αποστροφή προς την τροφή. 6 Ίκτερος. ^® Φαγητό και πόσιμο. Ναυτία πριν από το πρωινό, εξαφανιζόμενη μετά. Πριν από το δείπνο ρίγος.

Ζέστη στο κεφάλι, μετά το δείπνο και από την προσπάθεια.

Μετά το φαγητό στερεών τροφών, ρέψιμο για ώρες, και τσούξιμο, που συνεχίζεται όλη τη νύχτα.

Επιδείνωση μετά τα οινοπνευματώδη ποτά.

Στόμα και φάρυγγα ξηρά και κολλώδη, ιδίως το πρωί· ανακουφίζονται μετά το φαγητό. ^^ Λόξιγκας, ρέψιμο, ναυτία και έμετος. Λόξιγκας.

Συχνά ρεψίματα, εναλλάξ με χασμουρητό. Πικρά ρεψίματα.

Μετά το φαγητό στερεών τροφών, ρέψιμο για ώρες, και τσούξιμο που συνεχίζεται όλη τη νύχτα.

Ρέψιμο και χασμουρητό, που减轻 τα συμπτώματα και τους πόνους.

lΡεψίματα χωρίς κακή γεύση ή οσμή.

■ Συχνό ρέψιμο. ^ Αιμορροΐδες.

■ Χολώδη ρεψίματα.

■ Βίαιο καούρι.

Ναυτία: πριν από το πρωινό· μετά το δείπνο. Ναυτία το πρωί. Έμετος των γευμάτων. ^'' Επιγάστριο και στομάχι. Πολύ αργή πέψη.

■ Πίεση στο στομάχι. /? Αιμορροΐδες. Πίεση στο στομάχι, σαν να έσπαζε, επίσης τσούξιμο και κάψιμο.

427 BERBERIS.

Ρίγος στην περιοχή του στομαχιού, που παύει μετά τον έμετο. i Βίαιο τσούξιμο, κάψιμο, ιδιαίτερος πόνος στο στομάχι, παρόμοιος με καούρι αλλά πολύ χειρότερος, επίσης εκτεινόμενος προς τα πάνω στον οισοφάγο. Το επιγάστριο φουσκωμένο. ^* Υποχόνδρια, l Ασθένειες του ήπατος. Πίεση, επίσης σουβλιές στην περιοχή του ήπατος.

■ Στην υποχονδριακή περιοχή, κοντά στο όριο των ψευδοπλεύρων, περίπου τρεις ίντσες από τη γραμμή λευκή, βίαιες σουβλιές για ένα τέταρτο της ώρας, αυξανόμενες με την πίεση, εκτεινόμενες κατά πλάτος στην περιοχή του στομαχιού.

B Σουβλιές, πιεστικός πόνος στην περιοχή του ήπατος, αυξανόμενος με την πίεση, αντίστοιχος με την περιοχή της χοληδόχου κύστης, σε μικρή κηλίδα, εκδηλούμενος σπασμωδικά.

Διαπεραστικός, πιεστικός πόνος στην περιοχή της χοληδόχου κύστης μετά από δύο ώρες· συχνά αργότερα, ακόμη και την σαρανταέκτη μέρα.

1 1 Κωλικός από χολόλιθους.

i Χολικός κωλικός, ακολουθούμενος από ίκτερο.

lΣε σημείο περίπου στη μέση μεταξύ της δεξιάς πρόσθιας άνω λαγόνιας άκανθας και του ομφαλού, αιφνίδιος, οξύς, σοβαρός πόνος, που συχνά εκτείνεται προς τη βουβωνική χώρα, μερικές φορές προς τα πάνω στο δεξιό υποχόνδριο, εξαιρετικά σοβαρός, διαρκών 3 έως 12 δευτερόλεπτα, ερχόμενος συχνά, προκαλούμενος από άσκηση, π.χ. περπάτημα, και πιο συχνός και πιο σοβαρός όσο μεγαλύτερη είναι η άσκηση· την ημέρα πριν συνταγογραφηθεί, είχε τριάντα ή σαράντα κρίσεις, έχοντας περπατήσει και σταθεί πολύ.

■ Βίαιος μαχαιρωτός πόνος στην περιοχή του ήπατος του έκοβε την ανάσα, έπρεπε να σκύβει.

■ Οξείς, σφιγκτικοί πόνοι στο ήπαρ, που έρχονται αιφνίδια και με μεγάλη σοβαρότητα· μερικές φορές τον ανάγκαζαν να κρατά την ανάσα του, να σκύβει και να κοκκινίζει στο πρόσωπο· ροδινο ίζημα στα ούρα· κόπρανα μαύρα ή πολύ σκούρα, πολύ κολλώδη στη λεκάνη· συχνή ώθηση για ούρηση· κόπρανα ολιγοστερή, που απαιτούν προσπάθεια για την αποβολή τους. Ελκτικός-σχιζομένος πόνος στο αριστερό υποχόνδριο, με αίσθηση κατά την εισπνοή, σαν κάτι να σχιζόταν.

■ Πίεση στο αριστερό υποχόνδριο, προς τα πίσω, ελκτική προς τα κάτω.

I Πόνος σε περιοχή περίπου τρεις ίντσες στο πλάι του ομφαλού, αντίστοιχη με θέση μπροστά από τα νεφρά, και μάλλον προς τις πλευρές, κυρίως σουβλιές, συχνά εκτεινόμενες στην οσφυϊκή περιοχή ή στις βουβωνικές χώρες, το ήπαρ, τον σπληνά ή το στομάχι. Καυστικός πόνος στο ή κάτω από το δέρμα της κοιλιάς. Διαπεραστικοί πόνοι στο επιγάστριο, ιδίως στην αριστερή πλευρά, αυξανόμενοι με την εισπνοή, την κίνηση ή το άγγιγμα, συνοδευόμενοι από βραχεία αναπνοή και διάταση της κοιλιάς. Πόνος σε μικρή κηλίδα στην αριστερή πλευρά. Συμπίεση και συστολή στις πλευρές της κοιλιάς, ιδίως στην αριστερή. Χολικός κωλικός, ακολουθούμενος από ίκτερο. Στροφική κίνηση στο στομάχι και την κοιλιά.

Σπλαχνικές κινήσεις, σαν προσπάθειες για κένωση. Περιπλανώμενος, σχιζομένος, τσούχτουσας πόνος στους κοιλιακούς μύες. Σουβλιές, σχίζωση ή κάψιμο στο δέρμα της κοιλιάς, κυρίως γύρω από τον ομφαλό. Διογκωμένες φλέβες.

Παλιές κίτρινες κηλίδες γύρω από τον ομφαλό που ξεφλουδίζουν. Πίεση και τάση στις βουβωνικές χώρες, σαν να επρόκειτο να εκδηλωθεί κήλη· ιδίως όταν περπατά και στέκεται. Κνησμός ή πίεση στην περιοχή των βουβωνικών αδένων, με πόνο από την αφή σαν να επρόκειτο να πρηστούν. Στη βουβωνική περιοχή πιεστική, σφιγκτική τάση, τσούξιμο και κοπή, εκτεινόμενη προς τους μηρούς, ή προερχόμενη από τα ισχία προς τη βουβωνική περιοχή και τους μηρούς.

Scanty, thin-formed stool, hard or soft.

I Clay-colored stools ; occasional pain in big toe and leg, up to shoulder ; sometimes pain in bladder ; urine scalds.

■ Changing stool, irregular, costive or loose. 6 Hemorrhoids. Small, indurated, intermitting stool.

Hard stool, like sheep's dung, passed only after much straining.

■ Constipation.

■ Intense pain before and with stool, as from constriction in

rectum, preventing passage of feces.

■ Burning, stitching pain during, before, and after stool.

■ A long continued sensation after stool, as if one had just been

to stool, or as if one had just recovered from a pain in the anus.

■ Painful pressure in perineum ; stitches in perineum, extending

deep into (1. side) pelvis. ^Fistula in ano.

■ Smarting pain in the anus.

Soreness in anus, with burning ; pain when touched, and great

sensitiveness when sitting. Burning, stinging pain in anus, before, during, and after stool.

■ Tearing extending around anus. Bearing down in anus and in sacrum.

In anus pressure, and tenderness after evacuation, fullness, rasping and stinging, burning, itching, crawling and throb- bing.

■ Herpes around anus.

Copious discharge of black blood per anum after increased

exercise. Hemorrhoids, with itching or burning, particularly after stool,

which frequently is hard and covered with blood. Large hemorrhoidal tumors with itching and burning.

■ Fistula in ano, with itching there; short cough and chest

complaints.

■ Fistula since two or three months, with a troublesome short

cough and morbid appearance; after Berh. 18 cent., cough ceased in 48 hours, fistula improved for two weeks ; then a biliary colic which he bad not had for three years, but fre- quently before {Coloc); fistula improving; furuncle ap- peared for several weeks ; a kind of tetter on the edge of anus remained.

■ ■Fistula recti when attended with bilious symptoms. A crust formed about anus.

^^ Urinary Organs. In the lumbar and renal region a pressing straining, shooting or bruising pain, extending to the thighs, with stiffness, numbness and sensation of warmth, which prevents raising the body and rising up.

■ Pressive or tensive pain in region of loins and kidneys, some-

times on one side, sometimes on both or frequently across small of back, at times extending downward into posterior

portion of pelvis, of thighs, and even to calves with a feeling of stiffness and lameness, or swelling of the back and lower extremities.

B Sticking or sticking-pressing pain, at times slight, at times very sensitive, in one or the other lumbar region, now in a small spot which is a simple sticking, now in a larger place, when it is chiefly pressing, either exactly in the region of the kidneys, or at times extending above or below, but espe- cially outward, so that it extends around side of abdomen in front or to region of hips, sometimes also in the spine and extending down to the small of back, and the region of blad- der and groins, sometimes fine, sometimes dull; the sticking sometimes extends from the region of kidneys straight for- ward into abdomen, and at times with a numb, paralyzed, bruised sensation, frequently returning and lasting a long time.

Tearing pain in region of both kidneys soon after rising in morning, which extends sideways and forward, both upward and downward, so that the whole region of back between pel- vis and thorax is affected.

Tearing, or tearing-sticking pain in region of loins and kidneys, usually worse on one side, frequently at same time in small of back, as if the region was crushed or bruised, with a feel- ing of stiffness, so that it was difficult for her to rise from sit- ting, so that hands must assist rising; sometimes also in- volving hip, nates, upper and posterior portion of extremi- ties ; at times also with a sensation of numbness.

I I Pressive or tensive pains in region of loins and kidneys, with a feeling of stiffness and lameness, or swelling, in back and lower limbs [Kali carh. without stiffness and lameness).

■ Tearing pulsating pain in right kidney.

Stitching or tearing in renal region and adjoining parts, with numbness and soreness, increased by hard external pressure.

I A sticking- digging, or digging-tearing pain in one or other kidney regions, as if it were suppurating ; aggravated by deep pressure.

■ Violent, cutting, tensive pain, deeply seated in left side of

bladder, at last becoming a sticking, obliquely in the female urethra, as if in its orifice, lasting a few minutes.

■ Painful cuttings in left side of region of bladder extend into

urethra, coming from left kidney along the course of the ureter. Violent sticking pains in bladder, extending from kidneys into urethra, with urging to urinate.

■ Drawing sticking pain in one or the other side of bladder, ex-

tending down into the female urethra, often arising in lum- bar region and extending along the course of the ureters.

■ Burning pain in bladder, sometimes when it is full, sometimes

when empty, soon after urinating, several times ; frequently also in morning before urinating for the first time.

■ Pain in bladder when moving.

■ Most violent burning and shooting in orifice of urethra, after

climaxis, ?et. 50.

Urine smells like coffee.

Urine: increased and clear, with smnll slimy sediment, at be- ginning and during exacerbation of complaints.

I Pale yellow urine, either with a slight transparent, gelatinous sediment, which is not deposited, or a turbid, flocculent, clay- like, copious mucous sediment, mixed with a white or whitish- gray, and later a reddish, mealy sediment.

Urine dark, bright yellow, or red, with sediment.

B Inflammatory red urine.

I Blood red urine, which speedily becomes turbid and deposits a thick mucous and bright red, mealy sediment, slowly be- coming clear, but always retaining its bright red color, with violent pains in kidneys.

Much mucus, tough and in threads.

Urine lessened, and with copious, slimy sediment, when com- plaints abate.

Pain in genitals, increased by motion.

■ Burning in the urethra.

■ Smarting, burning pains in spermatic cord, with several

stitches, now on one, now on the other side.

Dragging or lancinating pains in spermatic cord, extending into testicles.

In the spermatic cord straining, burning, with stitching, draw- ing and pressure, extending to the testicles.

iSoft, pulpy swelling of the left spermatic cord, especially in the lower portions, several times when walking, with at times drawing, burning, smarting, or tearing pains; at times also when sitting, with pain extending down into the testicles, especially the epididymis.

■ Most excruciating pain extends along the urethra into bladder,

into testicle, which is drawn upon the aifected side.

■ Drawing pain in the spermatic cord of the right, frequently

of the left side, extending down into the testicles, or up into the abdominal ring.

■ Neuralgia and inflammation of spermatic cord, testicles and

in the testicles.

■ Penis hard and contracted all along the upper part, bending it

upwards, d With an old man. A hard string along the upper part of penis.

■ Burning at the very point of the penis within the canal.

Menses : scanty, of black drops or filthy slime ; too scanty and painful with pain in small of back ; consisting of gray mucus or brown blood ; fetid lumps ; too slight, of watery blood, or gray mucus ; too short.

Catamenia every three weeks.

The menses at the proper time, but too small in quantity, too short, resembling somewhat the washings of flesh.

Suppressed menstruation.

Uterine symptoms are at first intensified then relieved by ex- ertion.

For some days previous to catamenia, violent tearing in limbs, with severe pain in back.

At the beginning of menstruation, violent pain in kidneys.

The menstruation attended in the first days with pressure to- wards the parts, stitches, rasping in the vagina, burning and -soreness in the anus.

The menses succeeded by excessive lassitude and vehement shooting headache.

Pain during catamenia is often in the kidneys or down the thighs and calves of the legs, again in the head and some- times all over the body.

• Painful menstruation.

During the menses: pain in back ; pressure and tension in upper arm and shoulders, extending to the neck; vehement tearing through whole body, particularly left side; pain in kidneys; stitches in breast; vehement pressing headache; painful dis- tended abdomen ; exhaustion, faintness, shivering, very jaded countenance, irksomeness and weariness of life.

After the menses : great lassitude with tearing and stitching in the head ; pain in small of back and loins ; pressure in the mammse, especially at the nipple with sensation as if the mamma were swollen ; stitches in the left mamma.

Acrid leucorrhoea, very prostrating.

The pains in the external genitals increased by motion.

■ Violent sticking on left side of the abdomen, two fingers'

breadth from the navel, extending in long stitches into the left side of the vagina; smarting pain in the vagina; burn- ing, violent pain and soreness in the anus.

Shooting-stinging from the perineum deep into the female parts.

■ Sensation of burning and soreness in the vagina, frequently very sensitive, especially in the anterior portion, even ex- tending to the labia.

Vagina painful to touch.

Sudden lancinating in vagina, causing her to start, with sore- ness of the wall of the vagina to the touch, ■< walking.

Sticking pain, or sticking with pressure frequently recurring, and long continued in one or the other lumbar region, at times in kidneys, at others a little above and below, extending out- ward and forward inside of abdomen, or region of hip, or dorsal spine, or small of back, into region of bladder or groin, or from kidneys straight into abdomen, with numbness and lameness, as if bruised.

Painful pressure and tension in lumbar and renal region, some- times with sensation of numbness, puffiness, warmth, stiff- ness and lameness, extending at times into lower limbs.

■ Tearing pain in posterior portion of iliac crest, usually only to one side, extending downward into gluteal muscles, or into bones.

I Deep-seated, sensitive sticking pain in ilium of one or the other side, an inch to an inch and a half from the spine, ex- tending obliquely inward toward sacrum.

I If she stooped the lower part of the back felt stiff, and it was with difficulty that she could stand up, on account of that painful stiffness ; this tearing was noticed even when sitting, more severe when standing; was relieved in the afternoon.

I A feeling of warmth in lower part of back, and in small of back, as if lumbar region were asleep, extending down into sacrum, hips, and posterior portion of thighs.
