Aurum met. is to be thought of in those scrofulous, syphilitic or mercurialized constitutions suffering from rheumatic conditions characterized by very severe tearing boring bone pains, always greatly aggravated at night and in cold weather, when the accompanying symptoms are present. In inflammatory rheumatism Aurum met. is of value when there is high fever, extreme tenderness to touch, profuse sweat, and involvement of the endocardium with the peculiar heart symptoms.
