Petroleum.

Mind And Disposition

Excited, irritable, with inclination to anger and to scold ; anxious and irresolute. Sadness and despondency, inclination to weep. Weakness of memory. Delirium ; imagination ; thinks another person is lying with him in bed ; or always and continuously delirious talk of the same distressing and unpleasant subject.

Head

[5] Headache when stooping or rising from bed. Pulsation in the cerebellum. Pressing stinging in the cerebellum. Sensation as if every thing in the head were alive. Headache in the forehead ; every mental exertion causes him to become quite stupid.

Headache From Anger

Sensitiveness of the scalp on both sides, very sore to the touch, followed by numbness, and very sore on scratching, worse in the morning and on becoming heated.

Eyes

Inflammation, with itching of the eye. Fistula lachrymalis. Like a veil before the eye.

Ears

[15] Dryness and disagreeable sensation of dryness in the ear. Hardness of hearing. Discharge of pus and blood from the ear. Humid soreness behind the ear.

Nose

Dryness and sensation of dryness in the nose.

Fluent Coryza, With Hoarseness

Swelling of the nose, with discharge of pus, and pain at the root of it.

Face

Yellow complexion. Heat in the face after eating (sometimes with thirst). Scurfs around the mouth. [25] Easily dislocated jaw, in the morning in bed, with much pain. Swelling of the submaxillary glands.

Mouth And Throat

Toothache from contact with the fresh open air, at night, and with swelling of the cheek. Numbness of the teeth, they pain when biting on them. Swelling of the gums, with stinging-burning pain when touching it.

Fistula Dentalis

Smell from the mouth like garlic. Great dryness of the mouth and throat in the morning, with much thirst (for beer). Stinging pain in the throat when swallowing. Ulcers on the inner cheek, painful when closing the teeth.

Hawking Of Mucus In The Morning

When swallowing, the food enters into the posterior nares. The tongue is coated white.

Stomach And Abdomen

Taste, putrid, flat, mucous. Violent thirst (for beer).

Ravenous Hunger

Aversion to meat and fat as well as all warm, cooked food. Sour or bitter eructations and gulping up of. Waterbrash. After eating vertigo and giddiness.

Nausea, From Riding In A Carriage

Nausea and vomiting of pregnant women. Vomiting of bitter, green substances. Pressure on the stomach ; colic (at night). Sensation of emptiness in the stomach. [50] Sensation of fulness or swelling of the pit of the stomach, with soreness when touched. Pain in the pit of the stomach as if something were tearing off. Cutting in the abdomen soon after eating. Weakness of digestion. Sensation of coldness in the abdomen.

Stool And Anus

[55] Stool insufficient, difficult, hard, in lumps. Diarrhoea preceded by colic only during the day. Stools of bloody mucus. Itching herpes on the perineum.

Urinary Organs

Constant dripping of urine. [60] Frequent micturition, with scanty emission of brown, fetid urine. Contraction of the urethra. Burning in the urethra. Involuntary micturition, at night in bed.

Sexual Organs

Men. Red, sore, moist scrotum and adjacent parts. Itching and humid herpes on the scrotum and between the scrotum and thigh.

Women

Soreness and moisture on the sexual organs. Aversion to an embrace. Menses too early, the discharge causes itching. During pregnancy diarrhoea and vomiting. Itching and mealy covering of the nipples.

Respiratory Organs. [70] Cold air causes an oppressed feeling on the chest. Oppression of the chest, at night. At night, dry cough coming deep from the chest, caused by a scratching in the throat. Cough with stitches under the sternum. Herpes on the chest.

Back and Neck. [75] Pain in the small of the back, preventing one from standing. Weakness and stiffness in the back and small of the back. Pain in the back, which does not allow him to move. Herpes in the neck.

Extremities

Upper. Brown or yellow spots on the arms.

Burning In The Palms Of The Hands

During the winter, chapped hands and fingers, full of deep, bloody rhagades. Arthritic stiffness of the finger-joints. Pain in the wrist joint as if sprained. Lower. Stitches in the knee. [85] Hot swelling of the soles of the feet with burning. Painful swelling and redness of the heel (chilblains). Ulcers on the toes, originating in blisters on the toes. Herpes on the knees and ankles. Feet swollen ; cold.

Sleep

Sleep with distressing dreams, as if somebody were lying alongside of him in bed.

Fever

Pulse full and accelerated from every exertion ; as soon as reposing, the pulse becomes again slow. Chill, especially toward evening, often with heat at the same time. Chilliness through the whole body followed by itching. [100] Chilliness in the open air. Chill with headache and excessive coldness of the face and hands. Heat in the evening after the chill, with cold feet. Heat after midnight and in the morning, in bed. Sensation of heat over the whole body, with violent burning of the skin. [105] Flushes of heat. Night-sweats. The forearms and lower legs perspire easily. Perspiration after the chill, no heat intervening. Intermittent fever. Violent chilliness and coldness of the hands and face at 10 A.M. ; half an hour later, heat in the face, especially in the eyes, with thirst. [110] Shaking fits, 7 P.M., followed by perspiration, first in the face, later all over, except in the legs, which are quite cold.

Skin

Swelling and indurations of the glands ; also after contusions. Itching herpes. Itching, sore, moist surfaces. Brown or yellow spots on the skin. [115] The skin is hard to heal. Ulcers with stinging pain or with proud flesh.

Conditions

Many ailments originate or are aggravated during a thunder-storm. After a walk in the open air, or after a slight fit of anger, flushes of heat, ebullitions and perspiration. Complaints from riding in a carriage, or in a ship. [120] Bad effects from sprains and bruises (glands). Amelioration from warmth, warm air.
