Reason for useRoberts
Aconite is one of our most useful remedies in acute rheumatic fevers. It is easily recognized by its great characteristics — high fever, dry hot skin, and its dreadful apprehension and restlessness. Without the apprehension and restlessness we should never think of employing it. The patient is simply overpowered and over-awed by a realization of his danger ; he turns in every direction for relief and finally falls prostrate and exhausted. As a rule it is only of use early in the disease before it has localized. In acute articular rheumatism it is of value early, when the attack is sudden, when there is the hot dry skin, thirst and restlessness with the fever. All the inflammation is in the cellular and serous tissues ; it has no effect upon the joint itself.
